We Did It!

“We did it,” exclaimed Michael Mulligan at a recent all-school assembly in the Performing Arts Center. “The Campaign for Thacher was an ambitious effort to raise funds to support competitive faculty salaries, financial aid, and to build excellent facilities like the one we are sitting in today. And with the help of so many parents, alumni, and friends of the School, Thacher has reached the Campaign’s $80-million goal.”

With this announcement and the end of 2007, The Campaign for Thacher came to an overwhelmingly successful conclusion. With the help of over 1,200 donors, over $80 million has been raised, a sum that is more than four times as much as any previous fundraising effort of The Thacher School. More importantly, the Campaign has helped Thacher reach many of its strategic goals. Campaign dollars enabled Thacher to build a new students center, a performing arts center, two new dorms, a fitness center, an all-weather track, an athletic field, seven new faculty homes, a new barn, and make many other tangible improvements to the School’s facilities. The Campaign also has nearly doubled the size of the School’s endowment, with concentrated efforts on raising funds for faculty salaries and professional development, and financial aid.

Reflecting on the impact of the Campaign, Board President Justin Faggioli CdeP 1969 remarked, “The Campaign for Thacher has had, and will continue to have, a profound impact on The Thacher School. The Campaign has improved the Thacher of today with improved facilities, and increased resources for financial aid and faculty salaries. Equally important is the legacy that the Campaign has established for future generations. This growth in endowment has provided a strong financial base and cash resources for Thacher and its future strategic initiatives.“

Head of School Michael Mulligan shared his sentiments, “This Campaign has been critical to both preserving the Thacher tradition of educating students in the art of living for their own greatest good and the greatest good of others, and securing the resources needed to elevate our Thacher to a new level of excellence.”
